This post is to ensure you that everything is still going on.
I’m the only one working on MO at the moment I’m writing, and that’s why there is another delay of the date.
The testers already found other bugs that are now corrected. Right now I’m uploading the final testing package that will be the last one (hopefully).
Remember that all these delays are to make sure that no bugs will be present in the final release.
Kingpix

Keep going, KP!
Soooo looking forward to this. Now torrenting 2.0 in the hope that my graphics driver will like it more than the standard graphics and wont crash.
No it’s not outdated, it’s a 9500GT, so it should work. I just hope 3.0 doesn’t come out too soon to give me a reason to torrent 2.0 XD
Keep up the good work!
I eat bugs for breakfast!
Anxiously awaiting! I’ve NEVER played Morrowind before. So exciting. (I did start the vanilla version, just to see.)
take all the time you need. The more new content and the more polished, the better
Keep in mind kingpin, many new games coming out next weeks (world of walking pandaria, borderlands 2 , torchlight 2) Your best bet is to release next student holiday , early oktober
I doubt he is worried about the commercial success for a mod of a ten year old game…
What are mist of pandaria, borderlands2, torchlight2 compared to M.O. 3.0 ?! Don’t be blasfemous
glory to you, lord ornitocopter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK2dyztcYXI
Is there any way anyone can help you get things done other than testing?
I’m just hoping the next post will be the realease
true hero you are pix. Off topic – for anyone who likes morrowind I suggest to the moon, its an amazing game I totally don’t regret paying 10$ on steam, it has one the best story lines I’ve ever played, so sad, life-changing, humorous…. you guys have to try it out.
What he said. I’m about 100 hours into my first vanilla run through and it’s hands-down the best game I’ve ever played.
*sigh*
this
Go kingpix, go! *-*
Anyone here know why 2.0 just goes black with music when I try to start a game?? :/
I had the same problem once, but it only happened while inside the ship. You should be able to start, but you have to ‘feel’ your way around until you can open the hatch and go outside. Things should be fine from there.
IF you have the same problem that is.
Unfortunately I don’t have quite the same problem. The screen is black, it shows 29fps in the top left corner, and plays music. There is no sound of the other prisoner,no guard, nothing.
I’ve re-installed once, and I still get the same problem. Can anyone help me at all?
Try turning off pixel shading.
Just tried that, and I get exactly the same problem, but it now says 47fps :/
Could it be a lack of net framework 2.0? I keep trying to install it but it says that it’s not compatible with Vista…but I have Win 7.
This is really annoying me now as I would love to play Morrowind again, but due to my gpu being apparently too powerful, the game crashes. I’m hoping this mod pack will make it work, so if anyone can give me any advice or help on making this work, it would be very much appreciated
Tip. If you are using ATI Catalyst thingie, uninstall it. Causes a lot of problems with everything
Is your version of Morrowind downloaded via steam?
You have to turn off “Steam Community in game” when using this mod or the problem you mentioned happens (sound plays but everything is black).
If that isn’t what you’re doing I’m not sure what else to recommend other than making sure your graphics drivers are up to date and that you have properly installed the mod.
I’m not using steam, I’m using virtual copies of the disks I made a while ago. I share a room with my brother, so it’s always a good thing to have copies in case a disk goes “missing”. Unfortunately he got angry one day and broke a few of my games, including the GOYT edition morrowind disks.
Could it be because I’m using ISO virtual disks?
Could you please tell me your PC configuration?
Do you have it in Steam? If so, you have to turn off the Steam Overlay In-Game. Right click Morrowind in the game list, and go to properties. Uncheck the selection, and it SHOULD work.
it’s because you have the steam overlay enabled in game…you have to disable it
Thank you and all your assistants as well as all the testers for all your hard, selfless work towards making one of the greatest games ever made even greater! Keep strong Kingpix, take as long as you need =)
The funny thing is that some people actually think the final product will be completely bug free, and don’t realize that if they’re finding this many bugs through testing and still haven’t gotten all of them, then the likelihood of there being bugs in the final release is pretty high. Honestly, I think this is a failure of an update. When I first heard about MGSO I was going to download 2.0, but people told me to wait, because 3.0 would be out very, very soon……that was 4 months ago. So, I waited, and I waited, and I waited. And now here I am, checking this stupid site twice a day even though I have so much other shit I can be doing, all because Kingpix can’t stick to his own fucking deadlines. Seriously, don’t use the whole, “they’re not getting paid for this” thing as an excuse for them either. I’ve seen several people offer compensation to them, and they refused it (most likely so that they could keep using that as an excuse). So right now, fuck this overhaul and every other failure Ornitocopter comes up with, I’m boycotting until you get your shit together.
Congrats, you are a big troll!
Or maybe you are just a plain idiot. If you don’t appreciate what I’m doing here you can just close this website and take your bitching somewhere else.
I’m a 18yr old guy with a life, not a game developer that can work on this 24/24.
Goodbye.
Now Kingpix. I better not hear your off working or having fun like most people around your age. I especially hope your not involved with a “girlfriend” or “boyfriend”. If so I would highly suggest you end it now. No other huge mod project has experienced huge delays like yours has *cough* Black Mesa *cough*. You’ve really got to get yourself together and understand that what Ben said is true. Remember slavery is legal in Morrowind. The Morrowind community owns your body and soul. You will forever work on this project with constant updates for free for the rest of your natural life. It would be regretful if a writ was issued by the Morag Tong and something were to happen to you. Just remember your easily replaced and people all over the world are lining up to spend tireless hours working on a free mod.
Seriously though. Don’t let Ben or other trolls get at you. People are going to bitch and whine about delays. That is just the nature of the beast. Your better off ignoring it. The world is full of entitled assholes. Fact is people like Ben will never manage a project of this scope or notoriety. Especially not at the crisp and chaotic age of 18. Your doing an amazing job. As mentioned in my above satire post. Black Mesa experienced huge delays. I am sure many people here will remember the 2009 release trailer and it just finally came out. Unfinished at that. Only the gods know when they will release the update to include Xen. I am hopeful for a 2014 release for that one. Considering your getting close to releasing 3.0. Along with everything your normal 18 y/o has to deal with. You must be busting your ass to get it done. To which I will say thank you. Just know a lot of us appreciate the work your doing. Just remember, don’t feed the trolls. Hit them with the fire spell of ban and go about your day. Also I wanna say thank you for just giving us frequent updates. While people like Ben might use it as an excuse to berate you. It honestly won’t bother me if October rolls around and you make another post stating the mod’s release has been delayed again. It keeps people like me happy to just know the project has not been abandoned like so many others.
If there is anything I or the community can ever do for you. Don’t hesitate to ask.
that’s it
I wholeheartedly agree with our friend Mite here, he makes such a perfect point.
Thank you Kingpix, it’s people like you that keep the Morrowind community growing and continue to make this one of the best games out there still.
Thank you for reminding me that only stupidity and … i have forgotten the other one … are endless. It even does not matter if what you say is true or not. But you just did really not have to say that. The act you committed, was totally useless. I hope that you feel better now, though.
So cute
While I disagree with the atitude in which you went about saying this Ben, I largely agree with your point. Don’t set dates and promise things to the community then not deliver. The moment you chose to inform the community, set dates, promise updates, and ensure us of an eminent release this project ceased being “yours” and became the communitys. I understand that things take but am annoyed that you chose to use the “life” line. I’m 20 and in college for 2 a double masters. I have extracuricular activities/organizations, and work on personal projects with colleagues. Many of these activities require me to set my own deadlines and make promises on delivering on these deadlines. I am also an avid gamer. I’ve (and most everyone in the community) have been very patient these past 3 or 4 months. But there comes a point when you must let go. With my college workload ramping up and newer games releasing, I doubt I will give an overhaul for an old game any further thought. Thanks for your hardwork and when this is released in October or later im sure this will be great.
“This project ceased being ‘yours’ and became the communitys”
This project never has been, and never will be, “yours”. This is Kingpix’s project, and I am eternally grateful that he chose to share it with us. Maybe when you release an entire graphical overhaul, you’ll stick to a precise schedule. Until then, stop complaining about something you’re getting for free.
If you’re attempting to sound like a spoiled, dipshit 12 year old that isn’t getting what he wants then you pulling it off, and pretty damn well I’d say. If you’re that inconsiderate and impatient then how about taking over and finishing it faster yourself, huh? No, didn’t think so. Throw your childish tantrum some place else cause you sound pathetic.
GTFO complainers. That is about the nicest way I can put it. While I (and many thousands of others) are awaiting for 3.0′s release, there are plenty of other things to do. Black Mesa was just released. Just Cause 2 multi player beta is online. It’s also pretty nice outside today.
I mean c’mon people. Kingpix is doing all of us a huge favor. It’s either wait patiently or download all the mods yourself like a man.
Well Said!
Fuck you.
No, really.
Ben – nerd
Ulf – do what?
Kal – rich spoiled nerd that can’t be patient
Mesiibilat – exactly
Sarg – exactly
Benny, you really shouldn’t be using your daddy’s computer while he’s at work. Now–go finish your homework like a good little boy and come back when you’ve learned some manners.
I have a Intel core 2 duo E2500 at 2.5GHz., 2GB RAM, Nvidia 9500GT 1GB. That’s all I know really. If you need to know anything else, just tell me
And which version of MGE are you using?
Okay, Embarrassing question here…What is MGE?
There are too many Abbreviations on this forum for me to know all of them XD
Look in your Morrowind folder, there should be a file called MGEgui.exe or MGEXEgui.exe.
Run it and then tell me the title of its window.
It says it’s 0.9…is that good or bad?
Try to open it, click on shader setup, then under the “Active Shaders” section double click on “Sunshafts”. The “Sunshaft” entry on the lower list should go away. Then click Save and close the program.
After that run Morrowind and see if it works.
drama in the comments? If what this Ben guy is saying is true. Why wouldn’t an 18 year old accept money? da fak… whats this Ben guy know.
And you know even skyrim has many bugs, I had one where there was a CONSTANT blizzard sound/graphic everywhere I went. And if I went into an area that naturally had a blizzard/sound effect, it would be doubled. I’ve tried looking up on how to fix it, maybe I didn’t try hard enough, but I never was able to fix it.
pro tip – Ben, get a life nerd.
I’m assuming this is not on the top of kingpix’s priority, he has his life to live.
Nope, still doesn’t work :/
I open task manager to close it down, and it says that the game has just stopped responding :/
Would there more chance of it working if I downgraded to XP?
Run as administrator.
I had no idea only one person was working on this, I thought it was an entire team! Yes It’s been hard waiting all this time but we all have to remember we’re not dealing with a company here by any means. I just wish I could stop checking this website numerous times a day hoping each time that just maybe it has been released now.
I appreciate that at least somebody is working to make Morrowind overhaul 3.0 a reality.
thank you
Couldn’t say it better, btw Ben is gay irl.
Please don’t use “gay” as an insult. I have a number of sweet-tempered, friendly, intelligent, fun-to-hang-around-with gay friends. Call someone a jerk or a douche or whatever, but not “gay.” It just doesn’t make sense when faced with the reality that being gay doesn’t mean being a jerk or stupid.
But he could just actually be gay irl. Gay people can be jerks too.
I tried installing 2.0 to tide me over, but starting up the game caused my screen to turn black and for four or five pop-up windows to tell me shader executables had failed to load (or something to that effect). So I turned off pixel shading, and that fixed the pop-up windows. However, when I start the game, the screen is still black, though now the music plays. (This happens after I hit “Play” on the little window with things like “Data Files” and “Uninstall” on it too.)
Does anyone know what’s wrong?
I have the Steam version of Morrowind, which is currently installed in Program Files. If this is the source of the problem, I could fix that. I also haven’t turned off my UAC, just because doing so makes me a bit nervous.
I’ve tried running Steam as an administrator, but that doesn’t help. I have a high end computer with a good graphics card and 4 GB of RAM. MGE says it’s version 0.9.
Should I uninstall and try again, perhaps reinstalling in a new folder? Can you even do that with Steam? Or do I just need to turn off my UAC?
Okay, I actually got the menu to appear by putting the game in Windowed mode, and it played the opening cinematic just fine, but when the prison boat interior was due to appear, the game crashed.
Oh, and I have disabled the Steam in-game community overlay, just saying!
I tried moving Steam out of Program Files and disabling my UAC. No change. :-/
Anyone have any ideas??
Finally got everything to work. Sorry for padding out the comments section unnecessarily!
Keep up the good work, man. I’m eagerly awaiting 3.0, and so are many other people
.
Okay…new problem.
I opened up the Morrowind Original exe. and the game worked…until part way through the census office, where it just decided to crash.
Should I honestly just revert back to XP?
Why do you assume it’s Windows 7′s fault?
Because when I used to have XP, morrowind played like a dream, but since upgrading to win 7, not even morrowind on it’s own works well.
Luckily I found a Microsoft program that makes a virtual PC on your PC, running XP. I’ll try it on there and see if it works
You won’t be able to play a game through Virtual PC, it’s for testing and for running older applications and etc. Morrowind runs perfectly fine on Windows 7 x86 and x64, it’s a coincidence that you’re having trouble and I would look for other possible causes instead of bothering trying to revert back to XP, Virtual or otherwise.
Don’t let entitled, spoiled brats dampen your enthusiasm. There’s a lot of us still cheering you on and happy to be patient! Thank you for everything you’ve done for this game and its community , Kingpix (and the whole Ornitocopter team)!
While it pains me to keep waiting like this, I do appreciate the effort you guys are all putting in and the hgih standard to which you are holding yourselves. Hoping to see the mod soon- and again set up a paypal donate button. If this mod is half as good as the trailer looks I’d be happy to throw you guys some gold pieces
Dear kingpix, I am afraid not all the bugs depend on MO, there can be incompatibility, hardware problems, user incompetence et c. I had an old comp, but I had never encountered problems due to MO 2.0 bugs. The only problem was a low fps, but with my Intel P4 and prehistoric Radeon it was no hope to get a fluid picture. In August I upgraded my system up to Intel i7 3770 and Radeon 7870 and I can assure you that MO 2.0 is runnig on like any well tested software.
Perfection is like horizont, you can never reach it. If MO 3.0 is ready, I mean no serious bugs are meanwhile encountered, you have no reason to hesitate, just release it.
What’s the rush? I’m sure we all have plenty of other things to do while kingpix ties up a few loose ends until he is satisfied. It would be a shame to have MO 3 released prematurely just because a few vocal people have less patience than is good for them. But I don’t think it will come to that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=miG9wui0FfQ&feature=youtu.be&t=25s
Nice, keep up with the good work
Thank you Kingpix and everyone involved in making this mod. Take your time, we will wait.
Take all the time you need KP! We all just really appreciate any time you put into this. Good things come to those who wait!!!! Thanks Bro!!!
have steam? I have gifts for you if you want them
Me wantsss it… se precious will be OURSSH!!!!
you got this kingpix!
Its refreshing to see someone so dedicated to their trade craft that there not willing to release it until its up to their personal standards.
You know, your just the sort of people that Obsidian and Bethesda needs these days. (A shame I don’t work for them)
Do your thing, and may your work overshadow ever other game coming out this year and the next.
Keep it up Kingpix…I appreciate all the hard work you put into this and I’m anxiously awaiting the new release =) Take it easy
For those that are really struggling waiting for the release I recommend visiting the Imperial Library. It will consume plenty of your time and make Morrowind a much more immersive experience. There are over 600 pages of Morrowind text alone. If you finish that there is Corpus Tamrielicom Vol 1 which contains all common texts used in the elder scrolls. It’s incredible to read this lore then enter it. Here is the link: http://www.imperial-library.info/content/zephs-tes-treasury
enjoy
In case I was not clear enough Corpus Tamrielicom Volume 3 is the one you want for Morrowind. Get immersed and make it real.
holy #@$&*#$#@
A big thanks btw!
You’re welcome. I’m actually learning the Daedric alphabet and pronunciations so I can communicate with it. I may be getting as bad as those Star Trek freaks with my interest in the Elder Scrolls world.
Hello guys. Could you please tell me if OpenMW is included in MGSO 3.O?
Thanks!
no, it is not. They are different projects, one (OpenMW) tries to offer an engine for the morrowind data files and the other enhances morrowind through a mix of modifications.
I’m waiting for this release most anxiously, and will get Morrowind from Steam simply in order to play it I admit the last time I played it was 2002). I applaud your tenacity and dedication.
Could we get another estimate on the release please =D.
Good news everyone! Morrowind being redone using Skyrim’s engine.
http://www.overclockersclub.com/news/32709/
Jesus.. When will we have enough projects? Either all these teams band together or they should just decide on a definitive project and everyone else should stop, theres this project, then OpenMW, Morrowblivion and now this new Skywind thing. MGO is really all we need.
OpenMW I believe is the most definitive project, It’s a COMPLETELY modular recreation of the morrowind engine meaning you can literally change anything without limits, it doesn’t require things like MGE to make the graphics better. I think if they were to get a good team together to recreate the elder scrolls on the OpenMW engine it would be amazing, plus OpenMW is capable of being ported to other platforms relatively easily, it’s not practical but it can even be ported to things like smart phones or even consoles.
Please dont use the Lords name in this way.
It is offensive to some people. If you need to swear use other words but preferably let’s keep these posts clean.
Are you really that sensitive?
I really hope you’re fucking kidding.
Well, either hes trolling or hes kidding.
This guy must be new to the interwebs~
woops not kidding *being serious
The Skyrim mod is by the guy who was doing Morrowblivion. From the article, it sounds like he gave up on that and decided to do it with Skyrim instead.
Skyrim is a shitty game who would ever make Morrowind using its engine,
i like the idea to wander through all the provinces of tamriel…and i respect the effort to mod it into skyrim, but i will never forget what the Morrowind OVerhaul had done to me – the deep feeling to be back in morrowind for good…i believe in ORNITOCOPTER !
Who knows when that will be finished? Morroblivion isn’t even done yet and that has been in progress for years.
PLEASE BLESS US THIS GOOD FRIDAY!!
This last beta-testers probably just play game and forgot to report…
*these… fail
they just have the installer, not the overhaul itself. you might be right and after they found out that it wasn’t the full mod, they jumped ship. if they are holding up the testing, I’m sure kp will remove them and continue on eventually.
How can they have the installer and not the mod? What does the installer INSTALL, if not the full mod?
If what you’re saying is true, then they’ll have to re-do all the installer testing once the rest of the mod is finished anyway.
I totally respect that these things take time, but if it’s going to take THAT long, then the post that suggested we wait for 3.0 instead of downloading 2.0 really ought to be changed.
We are already testing the final package now, and it seems pretty good.
If you don’t believe me… http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1408156-req-mgso-v30-closed-beta-testing/
I’ll definitely believe you over Jip. Thanks for clearing that up, Kingpix!=)
I love what you do Kingpix and I would pay you a good sum for your efforts if I could.
That being said, you DID create lots of anticipation what seems like ages ago for this thing and now it seems like it has been delayed too long.
Still, I will download and play. Just wanted to let you know its getting a little stale.
If you think that is bad, think about all the good games that has come out recently. Almost all of them have been delayed at least once.
*cough* bioshock infinite
Will this project be finished before December 21, 2012 ?
Just curious, cause I’d like to play it once before the World ends.
… isn’t it the 12th december?
If there is a chance I can play it and it will work I want to try. People understand that free stuff doesn’t always work. Let us at it.
Hi, can someone humour me some answers?
1: Can I/Should I install my mods before this? I have a clean install and was going to set up mods now things like Tamriel rebuilt right down to minor mods/quest mods. are there any mods I should/shouldnt install before this overhaul or can I get everything ready?
2: Are there any mods/progs that I have to have in order for the overhaul to work, things like MGE etc?
Thanks
1. Install everything additional you want after the overhaul. May cause issues otherwise
2. No, everything you need is there in the overhaul pack. (MGE included)
Don’t mention it
Cheers
Ok…you have to pretend this next bit as if it is spoken by a whiny child:
“Coooome onnnn. I can’t wait. Is it almost finished? Man. It’s taking sooooo long!”
Seriously, having said that, I noted whilst lurking these past few months that you are still working on the documentation. Sounds like you have some volunteers, but if you need another one – I’m available. I am assuming, perhaps erroneously, that most of your proofreaders also are beta testers – so they may already be familiar with how the app installs etc. So I thought you might need someone with no understanding of how the installer is to work at all…in that way, if the instructions aren’t clear to me, they might not be clear to others. It should help to clarify them. Just a thought.
